You’ve accomplished the initial phase of joining a Network Marketing company, and now you’re ready to see the money flowing in, right?

Finding customers and partners are the lifeline of your business. Despite the inspiring team meetings and conference calls, the awe-inspiring speakers and the encouragement for you to dream big, without customers and sales, you have nothing!

In order to become a Master at making sales, you must learn the simple techniques to building a rapport with potential customers and partners, finding out how you can meet their needs and following up with them to seal the deal. Below, I will share with you this simple 3-step process that will turn you into a Sales Producing Maven.

1. Get your prospects to chase you.

The first thing you need to do is to get the prospects to chase you and not the other way around. How? By finding the niche that the product or service you offer caters to, and pursue that target market.

Do you think you can sell meat to vegetarians?

Absolutely Not!

No matter how many times you try to convince a vegetarian about how tender your steak is, they won’t buy it and have no interest in what you have to say about it.

All you’ll ever get is rejection because you’re targeting the wrong people.

The solution however, is to find the right people who want what it is that you have to offer, and begin marketing to them to share how you have the solutions to their problems.

In the world of Network Marketing, you are looking for people who are entrepreneurial and are open to the industry. The goal is to attract people who are seeking ways to change their circumstances, and is committed to getting paid what they are worth.

Look for people that are interested in owning their own business. The more you can focus on people who want what it is that you have to offer rather than chasing after people who have no interest at all, you’ll begin to see your numbers and growth increase.

2. Build a relationship with your prospects and earn their trust.

In network marketing, building trust with your prospective leads is the key to success. Remember, you are in the business of building relationships and impacting lives so pursue each opportunity as such.

People love to buy but they hate to be sold, and if your prospects feel as if you’re trying to sell them on something for your personal benefit, you will lose their trust and any potential of doing business together.

Be empathetic towards their problems by being a “good listener” and let them know that you are here to help. Provide them with the best support that you can give. You may be surprised at the overwhelming leads and referrals you can generate as an outcome of you putting your prospects first.

Most of your prospective leads are more than eager to join the business, but they don’t know how and where to start. That’s where you come in. Follow up with them by sending them an email, calling them over the phone, or by paying them a visit to their home and get them started “TODAY”.

Once you’ve gotten them signed up into the business, teach them the ropes by explaining how the business can benefit them and how they can help others by sharing it with them. Immediately get them plugged in to your team calls and systems, so that they can see the high level of support and resources they have to build a thriving business.

Keep in mind that this is a people business, and as Network Marketing trainer Randy Gage has said many times before:

“You don’t grow your network, You grow your people – and they grow your group!”

Building A Lego Castle For Your Business

Most People has passions in their life.

Some people knit, some people build things, some people build or rebuild cars, some people write, some people play music, and some people build intricate stuff with Legos.

I am the kind of guy who builds big Lego stuff.

I love creating something piece by piece with Legos. I love watching it take shape, watching it be built, and knowing what it will look like when I am finished. But having done it for as long as I have and having created as many as I have I know that I must have in mind what the finished project will be. You can’t just start putting Legos together and hope it looks like something when you are done. You have to follow a blue-print. You have to follow a plan. You have to be willing to follow your blueprint and follow you plan for a long time to get the finished piece of hundreds of individual Legos put together.

 

Doing a business is very much the same way. You have to know where you want to go before you start going in order to make sure the finished project turns out the way you wanted it to.

Don’t get me wrong, starting is very important. You don’t want to just sit and wait, but you also don’t want to jump in and have no idea what you are going to do or how long you will keep doing it. With Legos, the instructions come with the Legos…but in business you have to create the blueprint for yourself….OR you follow the blueprint of someone who has already done it and succeeded with it.

Luckily I have had great Mentors like Rob Forre, David Wood, and David Sharp (just to name a few) who have given me a blueprint that has not only worked for them, but also other who have followed and succeeded with the same blueprint.

Since you are reading this, I want to be able to hand over the blueprint to you so you can follow it and create the Lego masterpiece that is your new business life…for yourself.

I don’t prospect.

I don’t use the phone.

I don’t do 3way calls.

I don’t do home parties.

I don’t chase my friends. Or my family.

I don’t make lists of people I know.

I don’t put flyers on cars.

I don’t leave business cards on urinals in bathrooms.

NONE of it is necessary to make a lot of money from home. And if someone tells you that it is…..they’re stuck in the 1980s.

Does that stuff work? Sure. Sometimes. And a lot of times it doesn’t.

In most cases, people burn out and flake out before they get any success.

The good news is that making a large income from home has never been easier.

When I stopped prospecting, my income jumped through the roof.

Why? Because it’s ridiculously easy to get 50-150 people per day asking for information on your business. Or more.

But, if you’ve got 100 people per day asking for information on your business…..and you have to spend even TEN minutes talking to each of them….

…you’d be on the phone over 16 hours per day…

Network marketers like to talk about “leverage”….but most of them only have leverage in the pay-plan…..but NOT in their work methods. They’re still trading time for money when it comes to personal productivity.

And you can’t get rich if you have to show up in order to make money. Or, if you do, it’ll take you 100X longer than someone else who’s got actual leverage in their work methods.

If your knee-jerk reaction is to disagree with this…..stop and look at why you disagree. Because whatever thought process is there is what’s keeping you stuck only enrolling 2-5 people per month in your business.

If you want to find out how you can enroll 2-5 people every DAY in your business….it’s not nearly as hard as you think.

One of the things I love about Empower Network is that we do these “public masterminds”…..where we get top leaders together and just ‘rap’ about whatever is happening in our business….

If I had been able to attend masterminds like this when I got started in this profession, it would have taken YEARS off my learning curve….

It’s possible that some look at the public image of Empower Network and say, “Hmm…that’s not very professional.”

To which I reply…..”So?”

It’s true our founders don’t wear suits.

We use phrases like “Don’t be a wussy” and “release your inner bad ass”.

And we have no qualms about telling people what they NEED to hear instead of what they WANT to hear.

In other words, it’s not about being “professional” or “proper”.

It’s about providing people an arena in which they can accomplish a few things:

1. Make a ridiculous amount of money by following cutting edge online marketing techniques

2. Be part of a community that takes a stand for people’s greatness and invalidates the “wussy” excuses that have kept most people stuck in life

3. And provides a forum where people can just BE THEMSELVES instead of feeling like they have to conform to someone else’s expectations in order to be accepted or viewed as “normal”.

It’s about being authentic.

We have people on our stage who wear shorts and sandals.
And we have people who wear suits and ties (not many).
We have people who say “bad ass” on stage.
We have people who thank the Lord Jesus Christ for their success.
We have gays and straights.
Blacks and whites and Asians.
Protestants and Catholics and Hindus and Muslims.
We have doctors and lawyers….and we have auto-mechanics and farmers.

This is about the masses….not the classes. And we’re very open and candid about that.

And while we’ll always have our share of haters for not being as “corporate” as they think we’re supposed to be….

…at the end of the day, it’s about The PEOPLE….and RESULTS.

And the people that don’t get that…..

….well, they just need to stop being a wussy and unleash their inner bad-ass. :

I find that one of the hardest things networks marketers struggle with most is talking about their business. There’s the perception out there that Network Marketers are the types of people that will ONLY talk to you about their product/service/opportunity. That may be true of some people! But this perception has scared many network marketers out of talking about their business at all. They don’t want to be seen as “that person”.

A great strategy in growing your Network Marketing business is learning how to “slip in” your business during ordinary conversations. The idea is not to be “tricky” about it, but to develop a natural conversation that can lead to you talking to someone more about your business. The caveat is to make THEM ask YOU more about it! It makes you feel better when you dangle a little something out there…a teaser…and someone says, “what is your business” or “tell me more”. Having permission feels great!!

So, how do you slip in your business into an ordinary conversation? You look for opportunities to talk to people…usually people you don’t know…to bring up a teaser about your business and have them ask more.

Here are a few examples of what I mean:

1. You’re at the office supply store getting business supplies and the woman in front of you has something unique. You say, “Where did you find that, that would be awesome for my business!” She will usually tell you and then say “what is your business”. Trust me…I’ve done it MANY times! Make sure you have a brochure or business card handy to give once you tell her!

2. You’re at the coffee shop and strike up a conversation with someone about the weather and say, “I’m just so glad to get out of the house! I’ve been working at home for 3 days straight and just need a BREAK! I think I’ll drink this out in the sunshine and soak it in before I hit the computer/phones again”. 3. If you have traveled for your business lately for a convention or training of any kind, make SURE you slip that into a conversation with a clerk or someone in line at the store or even beside you as you are looking at clothes. Something like, “oh, I wish I would have had that on my business trip to Chicago!” It gets a conversation going about where you went, and then WHY.

4. While not QUITE the same, try this as well. If you are at the park or a playland of a fast food restaurant with your kids, see who’s sitting there looking bored. At the BEGINNING of your visit (because you want to leave time for conversation) just walk over and say, “I know what it’s like just sitting here for a while! I thought I’d give you a catalog to look over while you’re here! You’re welcome to keep it if you’d like!” It’s a great way to get your product catalog in the hands of someone…and invite further conversation while you are there with your kids. I’ve seen it do WONDERS!

Once they ask you a question, it leads to more questions.

People are naturally curious. ESPECIALLY about people who a) have their own businesses b) work from home c) travel for their business and d) seem to ENJOY what they do.

If you have a positive attitude about your business, people will be curious and the conversation becomes them asking you more. What a great way for you to tell them more!

So don’t be afraid to be “that” MLM person. Just be friendly and personable. Let the opportunity to talk about your business come in to your conversation (plant it!) and when someone asks, be willing to tell them more!

When you are in Network Marketing, one very important aspect of your marketing campaign is to leave a footprint everywhere you go. No, I don’t mean a literal footprint! I mean that EVERYWHERE you go, the next person who comes behind you knows that you were there. How do you do this? Here are some ideas:

Business cards

You should have a good stack of business card with you in your purse/wallet. When you pay for a check, leave your card behind. If you are in a bookstore, leave your card in a book you’ve been looking at. If you walk in to someplace and see business cards posted, put yours right along with them.

Catalogs/brochures

Any time you are waiting in a service environment, you have time on your hands. So does everyone else. Leave something for them to read. If you are in a doctor’s office, tire shop, car wash, etc, leave behind a catalog or brochure for the next person behind you to read.

You need to have your eyes peeled for every opportunity. There are community boards that allow flyers to be posted for businesses. If you walk past one, you’d better be leaving your flyer for the next person who walks past the board to see (add some brochures or business cards in a backwards envelope for some takeways as a plus).

Samples

If you belong to a company that has any kind of samples, package them in a clear plastic bag with a label that has your name and email/phone number. Any place you go, leave it with a receptionist or desk person as a thank you. You’ll score extra points and leave a footprint at the same time.

As you keep this footprint mindset, think of ways that you can leave behind SOME piece of your business EVERY time you leave the house. Make sure you have plenty of materials in your car and in your purse or briefcase. Soon, your footprint will be stamped firmly in your community.

The key ingredient to achieving success in any network marketing business is to create a consistent generation of leads. Without this, the business will simply fail.

Once you start your Network Marketing career and embark on the journey to building your business, gaining prospective leads will be one of the first challenges that you’ll have to face. To avoid analysis paralysis on getting your first few leads, your leaders will emphasize that you start off with a list of names from people in your immediate circle, family and friends.

I know it may seem a little daunting to pursue your family and friends, but your goal is to pitch the opportunity to anyone who would listen. You have to think about co-workers, classmates, friends of friends that you know are ambitious, church friends, etc..

As much as people want to avoid their “warm market”, I want to encourage you to connect with your relatives and friends to introduce the business. After all, it is normal for us to share what we know first and foremost with the people closest to us. You never know who’s looking for an opportunity and will say yes.

Once you’ve made a list with all of your family and friends, you want to qualify them.
The qualified leads are the people who are interested in what you have to share, seeking to learn more, and are interested in moving on to the next step. They may be beginners in the industry or existing players looking for other opportunities. Either way, an interested person is a qualified lead.

In order to get them to the close, here are a few tips that you can follow:

• Relay how your business will benefit them personally and financially.

• Focus on what they really want and be sensitive to their needs.

• Tell them what they want to hear by answering their questions and addressing their concerns. Instead of saying “Join me in building my empire”, tell them “Join me and let me teach you how to build your business and realize your dreams in life.”

• Don’t ever bad-mouth other network marketing companies. Instead, focus on the good side of your business and give emphasis to its advantages and benefits.

Now that you’ve qualified your leads, you want to add more people into the pipeline so begin asking family and friends if they know of anyone that may be interested, and commence to do the following to generate interest in more prospects:

• Relay your message by creating a simple presentation or product demonstration. Make sure that your message is clear and it provides the right amount of information that they need. (You will determine what they need by asking them questions)

• Don’t jump straight into your presentation. Warm things up first by starting a casual conversation.

• Do not, in any way, pester, persuade, or guilt your prospects into doing something that they don’t want to do.

• Show them how the business benefited you and changed your life. Tell them that you want them to experience the same.

• Follow up to get a decision. If they are still interested in joining you, proceed to sign them up. If not, don’t push it. You don’t want to strain your relationship.

 

Remember, generating leads consistently takes time. What you have to be willing to do is develop the skills to become a competent network marketer and master presenter. If you follow the guidelines above you will be well on your way to becoming one.

Is networking the right business for you? Are you on the fence about starting your own organization? Or do you need some very good reasons to convince skeptical friends? Let me share some tidbits that can help.

1. Network Marketing is a Ready-to-start Business – And a good one too.

The direct selling industry accounts for at least $100 Billion in world revenue, and is expected to grow by 13% until 2018. So imagine what it would be like to get even .01% share of that money. But potential income is only half the equation.

Consider all the elements you need to bring together to start up a traditional business:

• Capital
• Employees
• Advertising
• Location and Equipment
• Products
• Training
• Business Systems

Pretty daunting, isn’t it?

In network marketing, you do away with having employees, advertising and location. The product already exists, there’s a business system in place, and you get training as well. The only thing you need to provide to get started is capital, which compared to the amount you need to cough up for a traditional business, is very minimal.

Imagine how many thousands of dollars you would have to pay to purchase a big-time franchise. Then imagine how many man-hours you need to put in just setting things up. Then imagine how many months—or yes, years—it may take to get a return on your investment, if at all.

Finally, imagine if all of that has been set up for you, and all you have to do is buy in with a minimal fee and get to work. That’s how you can grow an appreciation of the network marketing system.

 

2. Network Marketing provides Leveraged Income –

When you have a regular job or profession—doesn’t matter if you’re a janitor or a CEO—you have what’s known as linear income. That means you trade your time for money, which in turn means if you don’t work, you don’t get paid.

There’s nothing wrong with linear income, nothing wrong with receiving a regular paycheck each month. You don’t have to leave your job if you don’t want to. Just recognize that kind of income for what it is—limited. It’s limited to the amount of time you have, the skills you’ve got, and your energy for work. All of which shrink as you approach the age for rocking chairs and retirement homes.

Leveraged income is a totally different ballgame. Instead of trading your time for money, you leverage other people’s time. That means that even when you’re not working, others will be, giving you passive income.

As your network grows, your income grows too, and there will come a point wherein you trade little time, but earn a ridiculous amount of money! That’s the power of leveraged income.

 

3. You get hands-on Training –

Often for free. That’s because up-lines in your network realize that the only way they can make money is if their down-lines are making money too. It’s also likely that your organization will provide other kinds of training material, or point you to books that provide advanced learning. You just need to be coachable, and be willing to apply what you’ve learned to managing your business.

4. People are your Resource –

Never forget, networking is the business of people. In this world, land, energy and commodities are limited and become more expensive each year. But people—people are an ever-regenerating resource. Even if you run out of names to invite, how many people do you think your down-lines know? How many people do these other people know? How many people will you eventually get to know in a few years time?

If you invest in people, can you imagine how many generations your wealth will expand through?

These are four very good reasons to get into the network marketing industry, but the most important reason of all isn’t any of them. That has to come from you. It comes down to a personal choice—but that personal choice, whatever it is, will go a long way into convincing other people to follow your lead.

Of the many networking skills you’ll want in your arsenal, showing people why they should join your organization is among the most critical. There is no set formula to do this, however, because each person is different and will want different things—wealth, prestige, family life, wellness, time freedom, and so on.

One approach people try is hard-selling, which we can safely say is hated by just about everyone. Hard selling involves pushing the actual product onto the prospect, using the sheer energy of your presentation to override any concerns or objections they may have. This is why many people pretend to not be at home when the salesman comes a-knockin’ on the door.

Nobody likes being sold!! A client may buy your product or service to get you out of their hair, but you’ll lose a lot of goodwill and probably the chance to re-sell too. It’s even more disastrous for building a network because your organization won’t have a concrete relationship to stand on. You’ll have a cascade of fall-outs as soon as you turn your back on your new recruits.

There’s another approach that not only stands a better chance of closing a prospect but also fosters goodwill and a sense of cooperation: presenting your business as the best answer to your client’s need.

This is the opposite of hard-selling. You do less talking and more listening. You need to have some patience, a few good questions, and a sympathetic ear. Your goal is to find your prospect’s specific need before positioning your business as a solution.

Imagine sitting down with a prospect for the first time. Do you go straightaway into a presentation? Hardly! You’ll want to get to know them first. You try and chat for a while to build rapport. This is an excellent time to ask a few probing questions.

Probing is a subtle art. You need to come from genuine interest, without coming across as nosy. The key is to get the other person talking about themselves. This is usually easy to do, since we’re our own favorite subject.

Your objective is to steer the conversation towards topics that are important to them. Ask them to elaborate, clarify, share stories. Doing so will eventually lead them to talk about what’s missing from their lives.

Here are some topics that can lead towards more meaningful conversation:

Family
• How is your wife doing?
• How are your children?
• How are your parents?

 

Career
• You must be doing very well in your job now, right?
• Does your boss treat you well?
• Do you have time for yourself or your family?
• Are you happy with where you are?

 

Acquisitions/Achievements
• So what’s next for you?
• Are you aiming to buy a new home/car/business?
• So are you thinking about retirement? How’s it going so far?

 

You can also steer the topic towards health, children’s education, or any present or future expenses. Find out where the problems lie. Maybe they’re worried about financing their home. Maybe they’re dissatisfied with their paycheck or their job status. Maybe they’re burdened with supporting their parents or an unemployed sibling. Take the time to sincerely listen, to empathize with your prospect. Let them talk. Resist the temptation to jump in with advice. It’s important that you understand what they want and that you’re genuinely interested in what they have to say. Only after they’ve finished talking do you thank them for sharing and then lead into your presentation:

“I understand you have these concerns and I’d like to see if I can help. I know a way that can benefit you financially/career-wise/health-wise, and you can do it at your own time and your own pace. Would you like to hear it?”

When they say yes, proceed to the presentation, making sure to point out how it will indeed help with their concerns. Come from the spirit of wanting to help. Show them that an extra means of leveraged income will solve a majority of their problems, and that you can coach them on how to do it.

You may be working hard and highly dedicated to your endeavor, but are you really putting your efforts towards the things that really matter?

To help you discern what you might be doing wrong, I will share with you the common mistakes that you have to avoid in order to build a successful business.

 

1. Lack of Team Spirit

If you lack team spirit, how do you expect to succeed in this industry? The very core of network marketing is to network amongst your team while working cohesively towards the same vision.

Network Marketing is the act of bringing together a group of people for a mutual benefit. It generally answers the question “How can I help?” rather than “What can you do for me?”!

Having a team that you communicate with regularly helps you gain new and fresh ideas about the business and holds you accountable to staying plugged in with the daily activities that will get you closer to your goals.

By communicating with your organization, you’re not only creating the opportunity to inspire your own team; you’re also developing meaningful and valuable relationships with them.

To avoid this common mistake, conduct a weekly group meeting with your team and use this time to assess each other’s performance, provide feedback, give suggestions, and share insights in improving your group’s overall productivity.

 

2. Misleading prospects into attending a business opportunity meeting

Unfortunately, there are an increasing number of network marketers who exercise this technique to gain prospective leads. They invite friends over for a seemingly weekend bonding, only to take them to an opportunity meeting without telling them so. What’s worse, their prospects show no interest at all for the business.

“Kidnapping” your potential partners is not the way to go. You are not just wasting their time, you are also wasting yours. Invite prospects that are already aware of your intentions and have expressed interest beforehand.

To avoid this common and deceptive practice, be very clear with your intentions and follow your companies system to inviting your prospects to a meeting.

Most people are switching from one company to another in hopes of landing that one business that will make them rich instantly. Instead of focusing on a single company, they chose to diversify and put all their resources to waste by diverting their attention multiple different ways.

If you really want to avoid this common practice, I’d suggest focusing on one company that you firmly believe will be the gateway to your success, and give it 100% of your time, energy and effort.

Most businesses take 2-3 years to build successfully, so make a time commitment to give it all you got during that time. If for any reason, you see that you’re giving 100% but changes or flaws in the company have altered your vision for reaching your goals, only then should you begin considering changing over to a new company, where you can be 100% focused again.

Success requires F.O.C.U.S., which simply means Follow One Course Until Successful. If you know you’ve been jumping around without clear focus, then now’s the time to intentionally change this bad habit.

 

4. Disregarding Personal Development

Personal Development is the first step that you must invest in to accomplish success in building your mindset. Although you will be given tons of training, tools and mentors, your success relies in your ability to have the right mindset.

Personal Development is a highly encouraged practice that is enforced on every individual who joins the industry. From the team meetings, to business presentations, you’ll find that Personal Development is the foundation for which nearly all Network Marketing companies are built.

If you disregard and overlook this common practice, expect downfall to follow. If you haven’t enforced it on yourself, then this might be the reason why you’re not thriving on success.

In order for you to move forward, you have to learn the key elements of personal development: mindset, technical knowledge, and leadership. Keep in mind, personal development is a continuous process. It doesn’t end in the four corners of schools and universities that you’ve attended. So spend a great deal of your time constantly feeding yourself with positive reinforcement and surround yourself with successful and motivated people.

 

5. Easily swayed to rejection and negative outside influence

Do you know that our warm market can be our worst enemy? Before we proceed to the cold market, it is common practice to share what we know and what we have with the people closest to us, which is generally family and old friends.

Experiencing rejection directly from the very people whom we least expect can be very hard to accept. Not only does it kill the enthusiasm, the negative reaction can also create self-doubt—especially for beginners.

You may not control what other people will tell you or how they will react, but you can control your response to it. Prepare for them by equipping yourself with optimistic viewpoints all the time, and educate yourself on the multiple ways to deal with rejection.

Remember, no one can steal your dreams and enthusiasm from you unless you let them.
