If you are looking for a great way to grow your network marketing business, consider trade fairs and booths. By setting up a booth, you get to display your product or service and talk to an audience who has decided to COME to an event and walk the booth space area. They may not be interested in talking to everyone, but at least you have an opportunity to speak to a semi-captive audience.

Now, a lot of people think that they have to do HUGE trade shows and put in a lot of money. That’s not necessarily true. There are plenty of smaller events in local areas that can be JUST as valuable to your business as the larger events. In fact, many of the smaller events are not only more cost effective to have a booth, they are also more productive. People are often more willing to talk at the booth for a longer period of time.

To find a booth or fairs in your area, start with a search at your local Chamber of Commerce. They should have a listing of upcoming events in your area. Call the local events to get prices for the booth spaces.

Next, do a Google search for “fairs [your city]” or “expos [your city]” to find more events. When you are calling to get information on any event, ask the coordinator if they know of any other upcoming events.

When you attend any event, whether you have a booth space or go to walk the event, ask other booth vendors what upcoming events they are aware of. They can be some of your best resources.

When you do get ready to do an event, here are some tips to follow:

1. Make sure you have a GOOD looking booth. This is a time where looks DO matter. Have a carpeted floor (even if it’s not a requirement). If you have a table, have it covered with a nice tablecloth with an attractive display. Remember you need HEIGHT. Varying height. Don’t have everything at one level. Make it interesting for the eye.

3. Have a bowl of candy out. It helps to keep people for just a little bit longer.

4. Invite people IN to your booth. Have an interactive display. Have an example of your product if possible. Show it in use. Make it interesting. You want people to come in and stay so you have a chance to have a conversation.

5. Have a raffle to get contact information. Raffle off a product or service that you have for your business. Have slips with contact information. Include spots for people to mark if they would like more information about your product or the business opportunity as well. Make sure to follow up in a timely manner.

 

Events are a GREAT way to gather contact information, get information in to people’s hands, and have conversations with people about your business. If the cost is a little high, consider sharing the booth cost with another member of your team. Just remember, you’ll need to share the leads as well.

Instead, you went out of your comfort zone and searched for the right business opportunity that is more than enough to cover both your expenses and luxurious lifestyle. I think you’d agree that whether you’re selling a product or inviting someone to join your business, closing is the most critical phase in a sales presentation. Yet so much of closing depends on what happened before you got there.

You must have done your probing right. You must have presented the product or opportunity correctly. You must have also built up a rapport between you and the prospect. All of these are essential to reaching that final step, the close!

When you reach the closing phase, the most important thing to remember is this: you must BELIEVE you can close it! The secret to guaranteeing the close is to make your prospect see the product or service through your eyes. They must feel that you’re 100% confident that what you’re selling can really help and benefit them.

So let’s say that you’ve done all of the above and finished the actual presentation. The prospect hasn’t exactly jumped up and screamed, “Yes!” with excitement to purchasing your product or partnering with you. Here’s what you can do to get them to a successful close:

1. Probe how your prospect feels.

People rarely make decisions with their minds alone; they make decisions based on their emotions and how they feel. So once you’ve engaged their heads with your presentation, bring it down to their hearts. Ask them probing questions like the following:

• How did you like the presentation?

• What did you like about the product/service/business?

• Are the benefits clear to you?

• Do you feel it will help you?

• Is this the kind of thing you’re looking for?

• Are you happy with your current provider/product/business?

2. Answer any questions/objections.

You can lead this off with, “Based on what you saw, is there anything you can possibly think of that would stop you from buying/starting now?”

Never be afraid of objections; it’s a sign that your prospect is thinking about what you presented. It’s scarier when they don’t have any objections at all—they either didn’t understand you or haven’t paid any attention at all!

The following are typical objections:

a. Too expensive – if you did your probing right and you know this person can afford your service, it may be that the prospect hasn’t seen the value of your proposal. Try and see what they mean by “expensive,” and work from there. Remind them of the particular problem during your probing session and let them see how your solution can help. If it can help cut their costs, emphasize that.

b. No time – remember that people will always have enough time if they’d only see the value in something, and they believe that it can benefit them in some way, shape or form. Therefore, prove the value of what you have to offer.

If you’re inviting the prospect to join your network, ask them what is taking up the majority of their time (job, work, etc.). Ask them also if they have enough time for themselves and their family. Then finally, ask them if they’d be willing to try your solution if it will allow them to have more time for themselves in the long run.

c. I need more information – Ask them what more they need to come up with a decision “TODAY”, then work from there. You’ll probably end up with one of the other objections.

d. I will ask my wife/husband/parents/siblings/partner – One approach is to present to both of them. You can say, “Great! Can I ask you something? Who’s the decision-maker, you or your spouse? (wait for the answer). Then I suggest that you tell your spouse that I’m inviting the both of you to meet with me so that he/she will see the presentation the way you saw it.”

3. Point out how the product/service/opportunity is a solution to their problem.

This is a test on how well you did your initial probing in the first phase of your presentation. You must first have a clear understanding of the prospect’s problem before you can position your product as the solution.

If the prospect is having trouble deciding, highlight how the product or service solves or minimizes their troubles, helps them earn extra income, or helps them reach their goals faster. Answering objections is dealing with the negative, but in this step you must emphasize the positive.

It’s hard to believe that many skip this one crucial step. Unless they’ve said yes ahead of you, ask your prospect to buy! Who knows, they might even be waiting for you to ask.

There are several ways to do this:

• For network marketing: Would you like to get started with your business “TODAY”? Or you can ask additional questions like:

• When would you like your products delivered?

These are simple and direct ways to close any sale. You needn’t pressure or manipulate your prospect. All you are doing is calmly and courteously leading them to an informed decision.

I don’t know about you, but I really don’t remember the last time someone around MY house clapped when I came down the stairs and said “Great job scrubbing that toilet!! I’m SO proud of you!!” Sure, it’s my job around the house, but still, it would be nice!

Yet one of the BEST things about being in network marketing IS the recognition. Yes, it may be your “job” to sell, to recruit, etc. but you can be recognized for doing it well. And the fact of the matter is, most of us don’t get recognized in our normal day to day life. Whether it’s in our “regular job” or our home life, recognition is often overlooked.

Yet…how GOOD does it feel when someone acknowledges your efforts?!? It feels GREAT! When you’re recognized, you can’t help but to smile (even if you feel a little embarrassed). You can’t help but to get a warm feeling in your heart. You can’t help but to feel good about yourself.

The recognition doesn’t always have to be grand. Sure, being on stage can be cool. But so can seeing your name in a newsletter. It can be cool to get a candy bar wrapped in a pretty ribbon at a team meeting. It can even feel great to be called up in front of everyone and have them cheer you on as you get a great big hug. Here’s a few ideas for team recognition that can make an impact without breaking your bank:

1) Idea of the Month

Sometimes people don’t always have the big sales or recruiting numbers…but they still contribute some GREAT ideas to the team! Recognize them! Not only does the recognition feel good, but you’ll find MORE great ideas coming in each month. Send a nice certificate – with a box of energy saver bulbs!

2)  Top Team Awards

Your company may have top awards for sales and recruiting, but your team likes to know where THEY fit in to THEIR team. It feels good to be able to say they were #3 in THEIR team for the month of July. Each month, award the Top Team Sales Rep and the Top Recruiter. List them in a monthly newsletter that goes out to the entire team. Team members LOVE seeing their name in print. If you have in person meetings, give Payday (enjoy your payday!), 100Grand (you’re worth $100 Grand!), and Starbursts (You’re a Star Recruiter) wrapped with a ribbon for being tops in the team.

3) Sales Ribbons

Team members love to show off their ribbons! You can order incentive ribbons pre-made for a good price. Try going in with another leader to share costs. Give ribbons for $1000, $2000, $5000 and $10,000 in sales in a month (or whatever is a good rate for you and your company). And don’t forget to recognize them in the team newsletter!

If you have a team newsletter, pick a team member that has done particularly well and highlight them in a spotlight. Do an interview, and include a picture of them and their family. Make sure to tell the team what YOU think is SPECIAL about this team member, and why you picked them. If possible, get some quotes from other team members on what they recognize as special about this team member. Send your spotlight member a small gift-card as a token for the Spotlight feature.

You have no idea how many people stay in network marketing for the recognition. It’s a need that many people don’t even know they have…until it’s met. Because they’ve never had it before, it becomes addicting and inspires them to want to do so much more to continue to gain more recognition. For the reason that it feels so good, they don’t want to give it up. It would be too much of a loss.

I find that a lot of network marketers get so excited about sharing the opportunity that they start talking to friends and family…and think about who they know in the next town over. And then two towns over from there. Which is all GREAT, believe me. However, I am always amazed when people say they are “out of leads” or they don’t know who to talk to next and I ask them how many people in a 2 square mile from their home know about their business…and they can’t answer me.

My point is, so many times we get so excited thinking BIG that we ignore what is in our own backyard. It’s frighteningly common. So before you even THINK about saying you are out of leads, or don’t know where to turn for leads, I suggest that you try the following “grid system marketing”.

1. Get out a local map of your area. City or county map.

2. Mark where your house is on the map. Mark it with a big red “X”

3. You may want to do this with your work location as well if you work another job.

4. Next, take a highlighter and highlight a three square block area around your home and/or business.

5. Your goal for the next week to two weeks is to MARKET this area. If it is residential homes, you can leave flyers/business cards on the doorknob with a rubber band. This is a great way to get some family time or exercise time in while marketing your business. Load up your materials, go for a walk, and get your materials out at the same time.Networking Lunch Finding Prospects For Your Business In Your Own Backyard!

6. I HIGHLY suggest you get your game on and talk to people who are out and about while you’re walking through the neighborhood. Let them know that you have been in business for “X” amount of time and have realized you never let your neighbors know what you do, and you’re on a mission to change that!

7. If there are businesses in the area, get flyers and brochures together. Walk in to businesses and ask to leave some in the lobby/waiting area. Let them know you are local, and you are looking to mutually support each other. At the very least, leave them with the owner/receptionist/whoever works there. Leave any flyers on bulletin boards. See if you can leave brochures in break rooms at the bank. GET CREATIVE HERE!!

8. Once you have thoroughly taken care of your three square blocks…take it out three more blocks. Rinse & Repeat.

9. Continue on until you have covered a 2 square mile area at least!

10. You won’t be short on leads when you follow a grid system marketing plan!!

Never forget that your own backyard is FULL of potential leads for you. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t other places to cultivate leads from…just don’t ignore your own backyard in the meantime!
